Chispa and Latinx Therapy Unite to Empower Mental Health in the Latine Community

Updated: Nov 15, 2023

Chispa X Latinx Therapy

Chispa and Latinx Therapy have joined forces to launch the Chispa Wellness Program, an innovative initiative aimed at providing free therapy sessions to Chispa users and supporting mental health within the Latine community. Latinx Therapy, founded by Adriana Alejandre in 2018, is a renowned organization that focuses on breaking down mental health stigmas within the Latinx community through education and technology. Adriana, a Trauma Psychotherapist based in LA specializing in PTSD, anxiety, and dissociation, was inspired to create Latinx Therapy based on her personal experiences as a single, teen mom dealing with postpartum depression. She also faced challenges in finding relatable mental health resources for her Latinx clients.

The Chispa Wellness Program will initially offer over 275+ therapy sessions with Latinx Therapy-affiliated therapists on a first-come, first-served basis. Chispa users can easily find participating providers by using the "Chispa Campaign' Filter on the Latinx Therapy - Find A Therapist directory page. Initially available to users in California, Texas, and Florida, the program may expand to more states in the near future.

Chispa is dedicated to supporting its users in a holistic manner, beyond just facilitating meaningful connections. This new program marks a significant milestone at the intersection of technology, dating, and mental health, and will actively contribute to mental health support, particularly for the Latinx community, where resources have often been limited and needs overlooked.

Here are some important statistics highlighting the need for such a program:

  • According to research from the CDC, 40.3% of Hispanic individuals experienced symptoms of depression, compared to 25.3% of white individuals.

  • Latinx in College, the first-ever dating app-led research study of Hispanic college students, reported that 60% of Gen Z respondents identified mental health as their primary source of stress.

With the launch of the Chispa Wellness Program, Chispa, and Latinx Therapy are committed to promoting mental well-being and breaking barriers to access mental health support for the Latine community.
